Musicollogy - Studying Famous Musicians: Ludwig Van Beethoven

Introduction

Lovers of classical music know that Ludwig Van Beethoven was one of the most fluential man in the classical music genre. He has created so many musical masterpieces that up till' this day, his music is still being taught, studied and played all over the world.

Task

In this part of the unit, we will be investigating and learning about the life of Beethoven. You will be reading several of websites and doing some research about him. 

Process

2. You will answer the following questions: 

a. When and where was Beethoven born?  

b. What was his occupation? 

c. Where do you think Beethoven got his musical talent? (He learned by himself, family talent, etc.?) 

d. What did he struggle with in school when he was young? 

e. At what age did he start studying music completely and at what school? 

f. At what age did he publish his first composition and what other famous musician did he meet around that age? 

g. What was one of the earliest masterpieces that Beethoven wrote and for who was it dedicated to? 

h. When was his first public debut? 

i. What did he debut on April 2nd, 1800? 

j. What did Beethoven lose? 

k. What happened during the years 1803 - 1812?

l. When, where and how did he die? 

3. Make Beethovens timeline (use word or powerpoint to create it), adding all the dates you find in his biography. 

4. Finally, write a small paragraph comparing you life with Beethovens life.
