Alcohol Awareness

Introduction

Think underage drinking doesn't affect a teen's brain? Think again.

It's a fact! New research shows alcohol affects a teenager’s developing brain differently than adult's. Memory, learning and impulse control can be impaired long-term and the risk of addiction goes up dramatically. Read through the following Webquest to become more aware and educated about alcohol use among teens. Plus, learn how alcohol can affected a baby if a pregnant mother drinks.

Task

Essential Question: How does alcohol have harmful effects when abused?

You will use three different resources to learn about alcohol abuse. Each resource covers a different part of alcohol abuse including: teen drinking, binge drinking, and drinking while pregnant.

Using the resources answer all the questions in your packet. If you cannot find an answer move on and come back at the end.

When all questions have been answered you will create a truth ad to advocate for teenagers not to use alcohol, nicotine, or e-cigs.

Choose an ad from this website http://tobacco.stanford.edu/tobacco_main/index.php  about one of the three topics alcohol, nicotine, or e-cigs Use the facts you learned during the Webquest and Unit Four to complete the truth ad.
