Introduction

Everyone has a dream job that they would love to do. Recently, I was asked to write a novel for students who are unable to attend English class in Singapore. I am asking for your support to allow this dream of mine to happen. This is such an honor to know that I am able to help the students who are not able because of different circumstances. This will be a time to allow you to participate in something that could change a students life. As a class, we will gather different pieces of information, graphics, and anything that could be relevant for this novel. You guys will get to experience helping kids in need. If we get enough novels to send out to these students, then we will eventually take a trip to visit these students! Please help me with this great oppurtunity.

Task

Content Standard 1: Students will evaluate published texts for the purpose of emulating styles, language, and techniques of writers.

Content Standard 2: Students, using a range of styles, shall write poetry, personal narratives, and short fiction for a variety of purposes and audiences.

Process

Before we begin writing the novel, the students and I will decide what the topic will be about. We will have a class meeting to discuss some ideas that the students want to write about. Once we get the topic, I will assign students into groups and give them a chapter of the novel to think about. We will come together at the end of each class and figure out what will need to be changed to allow it to make sense. Each day the students will put a small part of the book together. When everything is finished, the students and I will put the entire book together, get it published, make copies, and send it off!
