Introduction
The Cold War was a very interesting chapter in American history. It spanned from 1947-1991. The Cold War began after World War II ended. After Nazi Germany fell, there was a huge power vacuum that the two super powers, The United States and the Soviet Union, were desperately trying to fill. The Cold War was an ideological battle between the capitalist Americans and the communist Soviets. A unique aspect of the Cold War is that it took place during the thermonuclear age, meaning that one wrong decision could result in a catastrophic nuclear war. The Cold War consisted of a series of causes and effects, the decisions of individual leaders impacted the whole world.
