Introduction

Hello Reading Detective!

Today your job is to discover everything you can about a book of your choosing from "Story Online".

It is up to you to decode the meaning and messages within each story and character. 

Task

DETECTIVE TO DO LIST: 

  • Today you will choose a book from Storyline Online
  • You will listen to that book while paying very closee attention for understanding 
  • You will show your understanding and ability to be a reading detective through multiple detective challenges
  • You will be evaluated by your boss based on your findings 

Process


Go to http://www.storylineonline.net 


Choose a book


Write down the Title of your book in your Detective Journal 


Listen to the book you chose on your computer. While listening write down any thoughts, ideas, pictures that help you understand the story


Take out your Reading Tic-Tac-Toe board 


Find a partner or group of other Detectives that chose the same book


Challenge them to a game of Reading Tic-Tac-Toe to reveal your findings

Evaluation

Choose the 3 tic-tac-toe squares you answered in a row. (if you did not win, choose three you put an X or O on)

In your detective journals write down you answer to these three questions about your book.

Submit your journal into your Boss (teacher) so they can analyze your findings!

Choose 3rd Grade and work through games/activites to help practice your detective skills for next time!

You are officially a trained Reading Detective!
