To start please cick the link above.

Learning disabilities are known as conditions that make it difficult to acquire the same skills and knowledge expected of others at the same age. My personal ties to this subject are that I have a math learning disability as well as ADHD. I was diagnosed in elementary school so these are thigns I grew up with and have never been a stranger to. For many with learning disabilities and ADHD school is a constant struggle on more than one field. There is the work itself that is difficult and on top of it the way one learns and processes information is different than what is considered the norm so that aspect has to be worked on as well on top of trying to keep up with the same pace as everyone else. A lot of the time teachers and even peers write of these students as lazy or just not 'fit'for school and willnot outright give upon them but rather shove them to the side as  secondary and not the priority kids.

Task

-A walkthrough of some of the different learning disabilities and ADHD

-Learning how and what students with learning disabilities and ADHD do in order to sucede in school

-Taking in what you have learned and viewing learning disabilties and ADHD from a new perspective

Process

The links below give a few examples of some of the many learning disabilities and their effects

Dyslexia is one of the most well known learning disabilities and is more visual oriented

Dyscalculia is what I relate to. It is similar to dyslexia in the sense that there is a problem in analzying 'sounds in language'

Dysgraphia is difficulty in writing and is usually found along with other learning disabilities

Evaluation

I have learned growing up that society doesn't really like to focus on non physcial disabilties and there is a certain stigma attached that nothing is 'really' wrong and that the persn just dosn't put forth the effort or extra time or that the parents are just making up excuses for their child. In addition many do not take into account that a child may have a form of autism or adhd or even another learnig disability and ony focus on one aspect.

Learning disabilites should not be used as a measure of 'smartness'. Instead schools should put in place more programns tht take the time to work with students like in the link above to develop a better understanding of how they work and how to help  and even just help educate staff that are not really affiliated with schools special education programns so that they can take into consideration how they might go about teaching integrated classes

Conclusion

To conclude , I hope that you have a new understanding of some of the mentioned learning disabilties and can look at non physically disabled students as not lazy but as unique learners. There are now more programns put in place in elementary school that often link middle and highschool students with kids with all kinds of disabilities in an attempt to create understnding instead of isolatin or the ignoring that often happens as students move up in school.
