Hey there!! Wouldn’t you like to know what it is that helps you to move? I mean, what are these things we call bones? Did you know that there are 206 of them?  What is their purpose?  Do we really need them, and how can we maintain them?  We are going on a journey that looks even further into this thing called the skeletal system and why we need it.  In this adventure we will get the opportunity to crack open the world of bones so as to successfully complete the final mission. So come with me and together we will unfold a few shaky mysteries that lie beneath our bones. Time to bone up on the human skeleton, kids. Let's dig deep and learn about our bones!!

Task

MISSION
During this activity, you will learn to:
  • Identify the names and locations of bones in the skeletal system.
  • Explain the three major functions of the skeletal system. 
  • Identify and categorize bones according to their type. 

Online activities will include assembling a skeleton, an advanced organizer classifying bones, working with an interactive bone diagram and completing a final quiz on the skeletal system.

Mission 1- Dry Bones Connected

Here, you will learn how the bones are all connected.

Mission 2- Skeleton Game

This interactive activity reinforces the location and names of bones in the Skeletal System.

Mission 3- No Bones About It

This activity targets the three major functions of the Skeletal System as well as identifies and vategorizes each of the bones according to their type.

Mission 4- Bone Classification

This activity will  reinforce your ability to distinguish between the various bone types.

FINAL MISSION-All about the Bones

This culminating activity tests your ability to answer questions based on the knowledge you would have gained from each of the missions.

The “Skeletal System” curriculum web, aims to enhance learning in children.  Students will learn the number of bones in the body; the parts of the skeletal system; functions of the skeletal system; as well as identify and categorize bones according to their type.  This will be achieved through the use of multimedia and engaging interactive activities.
