Introduction
In 2016, people from different countries will be in Brazil for the Olympic Games. Many athletes are anxious to raise the flag of their country at the podium. More than 10.500 Athletes from more than 200 countries are comming. What do you know about these people and their contries?
Task
Your task is to pick a country to research. The research must be about curiosities like language spoken, the flag of the country, typical dance, favorite food, attractions in the country, the athlets that are comming and in what sport they will compete. At the end of the project you will able to recognize the contries and understant more about their culture.
Process
This is going to be a pair work.
Before you start you will pick which country you are going to be representing. No country will be used more than once per class.
Next two classes will be used to make researches in the computer lab. I recommend that you spend some time outside of class to work on this project.
At the end of this project you will present in English to the class, using one of these tools:
- power point
- movie maker
- video
- popplet
Or any other tool you feel comfortable with. But remember to prepare and present all your research in English.
Evaluation
All the class must understand the presentation and take notes or make questions if necessary. After all the presentations, the class will play a game about the countries presented. The game will be created (on kahoot) by the teacher according to the information on the presentations.
The game will be played by the pairs, using students own cellphones and the wifi connection in school.
The score in the game + creativity + correct information = THE FINAL grade.
Conclusion
In the end all of you should be able to tell something interesting about each country presented complementing the unit studied in class. To produce a collaborative pair work and to reinforce or share your knowledge using diferrent tools.
