Introduction
This is aimed at a Year 5 level. Students will need to explore and then present why or why not trees are important for the environment.
Task
In groups of four you will research on trees. It is important to remember some key questions when researching:
- What do trees do?
- What are trees used for?
- If there were no trees on earth what would happen?
Process
Below I have provided one website to help get you started. Although you can use other websites to source information.
Once you believe you have enough information to answer the main question “Are trees important”, present your findings through PowerPoint.

Evaluation
In your groups you will present your PowerPoint to the class and at the end give your reasoning behind your findings if you agree or not.
Once all groups have finished their presentations of their findings, as a whole class we will go through the answers and have discussions.
This will be the time when everyone can ask questions.
