Introduction
We have just received a message from the principal, Jasper the school mascott has been kidnapped! He is waiting to be rescued but there is one problem. We don't know which room he is in.
BUT.....We know he is in a room within the school. Your job is to discover which room he is in so we can get him back! Here is a written copy of the voice message left by the kidnappers on the principals phone. Read it carefully and get to work figuring out where he is.MWAH HA HA!!! We have your Mascott. We have him hidden, see if you can find him, no one has ever found him.And later Jasper himself rang, in the middle of explaining where he is, his battery went flat! This is what was written down.Jasper- When I was grabbed we headed out of C block, north I think, I smelled roses, it started to rain I heard it on a tin roof, trucks were loud and I saw a flash of red as they covered my eyes I think we were heading to......beep
Task
You and your team have 2 tasks to complete in order to find Jasper!
1. Discover which room he is in. a. Research where the school is and what is in the school. b. Using the clues provided in the
message, figure out which room he is in. 2. Present your findings. a. Write your reasons for choosing that room. b. Orally present these findings to the rest of the class.
Process
Step 1: Get in groups of 4 students. Step 2: Read the information, and study the message sent by Jasper.Step 3: Use the Virtual Compass to work out which way Jasper went. Step 4: Use Google Earth to identify the path the Kidnappers took Jasper down, read his clues and look for the objects.Step 5: Look at the Maps to see if there is anything in Jaspers clues that makes sense.Step 6: Use the clues he gave and the information to decide which room he is in.
Step 7: Write a one page summary of your findings. a. Include the room he is in. b. Give your reasons for choosing this room. c. Also include the direction of the room example south facing etc. Step 8: Present this information orally to the class. Include these points: a. list what play ground area the room is near
b. list if room is near a road
c. list which direction the windows face
d. what the surface surounding the room looks like

Dear Team, Congratulations! Your team has discovered where I was. With your efforts they were able to find me. We have also learned about or school and where things are and along the way used a few resoueces that were fun.
