Introduction
Today you will participate in a research that will focus on the character traits that women showcased for years and landed them in the Women's Hall of Fame. The requirement is for you to investigate the biographies of some of these women that have had an impact on our society. You will extract character traits and give an example of their deeds.
Task
You will find the information using the Internet to research various iconic women. As you research, record your information on the Biographical Information Sheet. Once this is done, the information gathered on your sheet will be used to write a comprehensive paragraph summarizing your findings. After writing the paragraph, the information will be further “summarized” into a word cloud (this process will be explained in the Process section).

Process
Step 1.
The first step consists of taking notes on the Biographical Information Sheet. It is important to connect name of the woman to a character trait that is reflected from the biographical reading found on one of the web sites listed below. Take a look at Step 2 before you start.
Biographies:

Useful tools:

Thesaurus: http://www.wordcentral.com
Step 2:
As you are researching, make sure you take notes on the name of the female icon, described character traits, and an example of it.
Sample:
| Harriet Tubman | courageous | risked her life to liberate more than 300 slaves |
| Harriet Tubman | determined | acted as a strong advocate for women's suffrage |
| Harriet Tubman | resilient | survived 30 years of slavery |
(ex: Harriet Tubman was courageous because she risked her life to help liberate more than 300 slaves, determined because she acted as a strong advocate for women’s suffrage, and resilient because she survived 30 years of slavery.)
Step 3:
I. Open a New Word Document.
III. Write one paragraph summarizing your research findings. Finish this prompt:
Women who deserve a place in the Hall of Fame...
III. Save as..."Women's Hall of Fame"
Step 4:
Follow the steps below to create a word cloud using your typed paragraph and the list of character traits.
I. Open the link below:
http://www.abcya.com/word_clouds.htm
II. Copy the paragraph into the word cloud creator; you can also add other character traits from the
list.
III. Save your Word Cloud in your folder
Step 5:
Hand in your Biographical Information Sheet, the concluding written paragraph, and the Word Cloud creation.

Conclusion
By completing this webquest, you should now have an understanding of the role women have played in society. You should also know that certain character traits enabled them to achieve their dreams. In addition, you practiced summarizing your findings into a written paragraph and finally into a visual word cloud.
