Introduction
- The competition for securing an acting job is steep, especially in places like New York and California. Some people spend their entire lives trying to obtain that one great gig.
- The most important element for an actor to achieve work is through auditioning. Many say it's a numbers game; the more auditions you go on, the more likely you are to book work. It could be as simple as that, but rarely is. However, the more you audition and the more you exercise your audition skills together, the better chance you have of standing out as a professional.
- It is also important to train and be prepared for multiple situations which may arise at an audition. You are given a very limited amount of time to present yourself and demonstrate your skills in a pool of many talented applicants. There is only one chance to get it right.
- With this in mind, you and your partner will research the unions involved in becoming a professional actor.
