Great! Now You are ready to start your new unit!

Task

Your task for this unit is to complete all assignments as outlined in the process section, followed by a Unit Test.

Your assigments include questions from Math Focus 7, Watching Videos and Completing on-line tasks.

It is expected that you will be able to complete one section of assignments per week. Some assignments will be handed in, while others you will be expected to check on your own using the Answer Key Provided.

Mondays at 12:30 will be your time to ask questions, seek clarifcation, and hand in assignments.

Please follow the schedule outline in the Process section!

Good Luck!

Week 5:Solving Problems With Percent

1. Step 2: Watch this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiLH29odR2g

Can You think of a different way to solve the problem demonstrated in this video? You may be able to come up the answer just by calculating in your head!

Explain another way to solve this problem on a piece of loosleaf paper.

Hint: What if you found 10%  of 220 first?

Now watch this video:

You have just watched 3 videos that solve percent problems using algebra.  Keep in mind that you can use other methods you have learned which may make more sense to you ( for example, using proportion or finding 10% and dividing).  It is a good idea, however to practice the algebra method as well, as it is probably new to you. If you have any questions about this method be sure to ask on Monday. :)

Step 2: Practice using this website:

https://www.khanacademy.org/math/pre-algebra/decimals-pre-alg/percent-word-probs-pre-alg/e/discount_tax_and_tip_word_problems

Step 3: Read Pages 180-181 of Grade 7 Math Focus Text book

Step 4 Complete questions on page 182-183

Step 5 Check Answers in answer key in back of book

Step 6 Make note of any problems to discuss on Monday
