Bullying & Hazing

Introduction

Bullying is defined as "using superior strength and influence to influence someone to do what [the bully] wants." 1 in 6 kids nationwide have reported being bullied, and 1 in 8 have reported bullying based on ethnicity. Bullying can occur for a variety of reasons, but you've probably already learned that throughout your school career.

Hazing is defined as "humiliating and sometimes dangerous initiation rituals, especially as imposed on college students seeking membership to a fraternity or sorority." Hazing sometimes leads to deaths, especially if substances such as illegal drugs and alcohol are involved.

This webquest is an introduction to the causes and consequences of bullying and hazing. During this webquest, you will look critically at your own actions, and the actions of others. You will learn about what exactly causes seemingly senseless bullying, and what may happen if bullying or hazing goes too far.
