God Created Everything

Introduction

Today, we are going to start from the very beginning; the beginning of creation that is. The first book of the Bible is called Genesis. However, it is commonly known as the Book of Beginnings. Let's read the story of God's creation together. Moses under the Inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote Genesis, the first book in the Bible and the book of beginnings. The beginning of the world, the beginning of man, and the beginning of the Hebrew people.

Task

Playdough Creations – let the children play with Playdough – encourage them to “create” things with the Playdough – talk to them as they are creating and try to get them to name the items they are “creating”.

Process

Read the following verses in the Bible

Creation Day 1 (Genesis 1:1-5)

Creation Day 2 (Genesis 1:6-8)

Creation Day 3 (Genesis 1:9-13)

Creation Day 4 (Genesis 1:14-19)

Creation Day 5 (Genesis 1:20-23)

Creation Day 6 (Genesis 1:24-31)

Creation Day 7 (Genesis 2:1-3)

Evaluation

Go over the hand motions with the children to help them remember what was created on each day. After you go over them, ask them what was created on each day and have them do the hand motions.

  • “First there was darkness and light” (cover eyes with hands and then release)
  • “Then there was water and sky” (make waves with hands & arms & then wave up in the air)
  • “Then there were dirt and trees” (wiggle fingers in front of you for dirt & grow up like a tree)
  • “Then there were was the sun and the moon” (put arms above head and then like you are sleeping)
  • “Then God made fish & the birds” (put hands together and wiggle like a fish then flap arms like a bird)
  • “Then God made the animals of the ground” (have the children hop like a kangaroo or roar like a lion”
  • “Then last of all, best of all, God made me!” (have the children point to themselves)
  • “Finally, God took a rest.” (have the children act like they are sleeping)

Repeat the saying along with the hand motions. Have fun!

Conclusion

All of creation, man and beast, is here because God made it so.  In the book of Genesis we see a day by day detailed account of creation and psalmist here is reiterating to his readers God’s sovereignty over all.  Man cannot take credit for any of it.  Rather, he should with humbleness of heart appreciate and reverence God for it.
