Should teenagers have credit cards?

Introduction

More and more banks are reaching out to teenagers nowadays. Many teens are sent advertisements for free creding cards as soon as they become old enough.

Task

Present your group's opinions to the class.

Process

1. Work alone. Make a list of advantages and disadvantages of giving teenagers credit cards.

2. Work in pairs and discuss your ideas.

3. Decide whether you are for or against giving teenagers credit cards. Write examples to support your reasons.

4. Work in small groups. Discuss your opinions on whether teenagers should have credit cards. Give your reasons and examples. As you listen to other students' reasons, ask them to explain their reasons in more detail.

5. Discuss the questions below:

a) Was your point of view strong and well presented?

b) Did you ask your colleagues to give more reasons for their opinion?

c) What could you improve about your arguments?

6. Work in different groups. Make sure each group has students who agree with the topic and students who disagree with it. Discuss the topic.

7. Present and record your group opinions to the class.

Evaluation

Every meeting each pair/group must report their progress until the 6th meeting of the unit. On the 7th meeting each pair must do their presentation.

Conclusion
