Turkey Time (math focus)

Introduction

Every year Mrs. Snyder & Mrs. Buchanan have an imaginary Thanksgiving dinner in their math classes.  They love to have a traditional meal with all the usual dishes.        This year, they have been so busy teaching all the required math concepts that they forgot about the dinner.  So, they have decided to put you in charge of everything!  Good luck, I know you can accomplish this challenge.

Task

Your challenge is to plan a Thanksgiving meal for yourself, your classmates, and your teacher.  Your plan should include:

                          1.   A professional menu to entice your guests.

                          2.  A copy of your recipes with modifications to feed the amount of people attending your gathering.

                          3.  A shopping list with amount needed and anticipated cost.

Process

Below are the responsibilities you need to complete.  You may complete these jobs in any order, but ALL 3 JOBS must be completed.

Job 1:

Create a professional-looking menu to entice your guests.

Menu examples

You may use items on the supply table and/or Microssoft Publisher to create your own menu.  You will need to ask for help to send finished menu to the copy room if you create a Publisher menu.

Job 2:

Find recipes to make your dishes.  Print / write  recipe and add amount of ingrediants that will be needed to have enough to feed ALL of your guests.

Job 3:

Make a shopping list that includes items needed, quantity of each item, and cost of each item.  Then, calculate a final cost for the entire meal.  You can use an Exel spreadsheet on your computer or create one on a piece of paper.
