Rule of Thirds Shadowgrams/Photograms

Introduction

You and a partner will explore the Photographic Compositional concept Rule of Thirds through the creation of Shadowgrams/Photograms.

As a team, you and your partner will research the history of Shadowgrams/Photograms, the Rule of Thirds and brainstorm unique ways to represent your knowledge of Rule of Thirds through Shadowgrams/Photograms. 

 

Task

Each pairs is responsible for the following:

1. A Rule of Thirds Powerpoint

2. Completion of the Darkroom/Enlarger worksheet

3. The creation of 6 (3 each) Shadowgrams/Photograms that follow the Rule of Thirds

Process

1. Using the following websites create a Powerpoint: 

http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/photography/

http://www.lomography.com

http://www.loc.gov/pictures/

This Powerpoint must include: 

     a. an explanation of the Rule of Thirds

     b. 30 Photographs that follow Rule of Thirds

          Each slide must include:

              a. Title

              b. Artist

2. Complete the Darkroom & Enlarger worksheet

3. Creation of 6 Shadowgrams/Photograms

      a. Each student must create 3

      b. Each print must show Rule of Thirds

      c. Use the settings: f8, 10 seconds

Evaluation

Each student must print out and fill out a rubric. The student rubrics will be taken into consideration when teacher is grading the work.

2/3 Shadowgrams/Photograms will be graded.
