Introduction
Have you ever had to be brave against a particular situation? Do you know Paddington bear? I do know him very much. I met him when I was about your age. Paddington is an adventurous bear. He does all he needs to complete tasks. Sometimes though he can be clumsy. Through your mission, which is to find a way to meet him, you will have step to cross to accomplish it and to be brave as he is. Are you brave enough to do this quest? The only piece of advice we know about him is that now, he lives in London but our goal is to meet him. Are you able to help me find something that could bring us to our ultimate goal? Since London is an English country, I count on you to speak and search in English to have better results. Do not hesitate to look up for words you do not know or that you are not sure about and do report to your teacher each time you reach a level. Now, are you ready to start? If so, click on the “TASK” button to know where to start.
Task
The task of this quest is quite simple. You are going to learn about Paddington Bear. You will learn about his family, his favorite food, his trips, etc. With all those information, at the end of the hunt, you will talk with your classmates and you will have to find a way to write to Paddington asking him to come to see your class. For this purpose, you will have to fill in a questionnaire with approved links only. If you use other websites, Paddington will know because he has a superpower and your teacher will not be authorize to let him visit your class. This questionnaire will contain only question to help you to reach your goal. In the tab “PROCESS”, you will find the questionnaire and the approved links. You are allowed to do the research in teams of two or three but you have to speak only in English. You should write your answers either in a Word document or on a loose-leaf. If you think you are ready, click on the “PROCESS” tab to start the adventure.
Process
The step one in the “PROCESS” section is to make team of two or three. Nobody is allowed to be alone because you will be evaluate on your collaboration. Step two is to answer questions with the approved links. To do it, you have to open your “ENGLISH FOLDER” to get a paper version of the questions. You will also need a loose leaf sheet to write your answers or if you want with a Word document identified with both names. You need to open the “QUESTIONNAIRE DOCUMENT” to be able to click on the approved links. You need to split up the work. Once you are done with all, you can share your answers with your partners and take notes of his or her answers. The step three will be to compare with all your classmates to see if everyone has the same answers and acquired the same information. The step four is to discuss about Paddington’s visit. Who will prepare the events? What will you do? The final step will be to watch Paddington’s movie and maybe meet him. Who knows? Your teacher will tell you more about that.
Resources you will need to accomplish the mission are listed below. You will need the “questionnaire” sheet which is in your English folder, a pencil, a loose leaf or a Word document. Conclusion
Congratulations students. You have achieved the first part of the mission which is to discover Paddington’s world. You learned where he came from, where he lives, what he likes, etc. You know a lot about him now. You are good adventurers but do you think you could leave your parents and go stay on the other side of the world without knowing anyone? I wish you had fun looking through those websites instead of having a book to read and answering to questions about it. Now, you have done a real and concrete Webquest and maybe your first one. The final step of this quest will be to discuss with your teacher to know what will happen but I am sure that if you ask politely and if everyone works hard, your teacher will help you to write to Paddington asking him to come and talk to you about his adventures or simply to visit your class if most of the class wants to.
