Introduction

Welcome to the Edgar Allan Poe Webquest!

These activities will be an interactive way for you to learn more about the

Father of the Detective Story!

You will be working on three (3) tasks over the next two days.

You will also be graded on how well you use your time in class. 

Task

You will study various aspects of Edgar Allan Poe's life and determine a cause of his death. 

  • Your ultimate goal will be to solve the death of Edgar Allan Poe, and write a news article about the new information.
  • First, you must complete the three (3) Tasks that are part of this WebQuest.
  • These Tasks will help give you more knowledge about Poe in order to write the news article about his death.

 

Process

You will be required to complete the following:

TASK 1:  Biography of Poe

TASK 2:  Nine Theories of Poe's Death

TASK 3:  The Legend of the Poe Toaster

  • Your task is to find out about the legend of the Poe Toaster
  • Copy and paste the link below to help you find out about the mystery.  
  • Then complete the handout Task 3: The Legend of the Poe Toaster
  • After reading and completing the vocabulary section of the handout, use your Bloom's Higher Level Question Stems (Handbook) to create a list of six (6) questions about the nonfiction text you read.
  • Then, you are responsible for answering any three (3) questions that you have created.
