- What is scientific notation, and is it hard?
- No it is actually quite easy and it is the way that scientists easily handle very large numbers or very small numbers.

- The name might make it sound hard but when you get down into to it and learn how to evaluate it it will be very easy.
- Even The process of doing equations are easy.
- So lets talk about it...
Process
Scientific Notation
- Solving "Scientific Notation" is solved by moving the decimal to the right or left however many place values. For exampe if the notation says 5.6 x 10 to the third power you will move the decimal to the right three which equals 560.
Evaluation

If it is used in equation such as (5x10 to the fifth power) x (4.3 x 10 to the second power). You add the exponents which is 7 and multiply the numbers which is 21.5
After you have this info the product must be a single digit number ex(1-9) to do this you can turn the 21.5 into 2.15 and add one to the 7 to make it 8. You know word the answer by putting (2.15 X 10 eight power).

- To make finding the the standard form simply move the decimal till there are no more numbers and then just add up how many more places to the right or left if it is (8.76 x 10 negative power of 4) move the decimal left twice and you still have two but now you can just add them on as two zeros. Ex) .87600
