Thanksgiving Webquest

Introduction

In this webquest you will be learning facts and information about the first Thanksgiving.  Be sure to read carefully to look for the answers to the questions.  

Task

You will be visiting different websites to answer some questions about the first Thanksgiving. You will have to read and find answers. Read carefully! Open Word/Google Docs and answer the questions using complete sentences.  Save your work as Thanksgiving Webquest. 

Process

1. Click on the picture to get to a website about the Mayflower. In the picture of the Mayflower that you see, click on the" 03" (on the Mayflower Ship) to find out what it is happening here. Use the information to write a brief caption describing the picture. 

2. Go to this website and write down 3 farm animals the Pilgrims had in Plymouth.

5. Thanksgiving is a time we think about all the things we are thankful for.  Go here to learn how to say thank you in another language.

How do you say thank you in that language?

Practice the word and say it to the person who is cooking you Thanksgiving dinner this year.

6. Go to this website to learn about Thanksgiving food.  Read through the foods that are common at our Thanksgiving tables. Write about one food we have today at Thanksgiving dinner that they probably didn't eat at the first Thanksgiving and tell the reason why they wouldn't have had it on their table.

7. Learn more about Squanto. List three things he did to help the Pilgrims survive. 

8. There is a ledgend that the Pilgrims placed 5 grains of corn next to each plate on Thanksgiving Day.  Each grain of corn had a special meaning for them.  Click on the picture to read the ledgend.  Then use your own words to explain why the Pilgrims placed the corn beside each plate.
