Introduction

Welcome to Mrs. Baggett's Relations and Functions Webquest!!

Here, students are introduced to Relations and Functions. Upon completion, students should be able to discuss the difference between (a) relations and functions, (b) domain and range, and (c) how to determine whether or not a function is represented when analyzing tables, graphs, and coordinates.

Task

Your mission is to THOROUGHLY read the instructions on the "Process" tab and complete the assignment for this webquest.  Answer all of the questions NEATLY on your  sheet of paper by the end your class today.

Process

This is a collaborative pair assignment!!  However, EACH partner is responsible for all written data from the following task(s). Task 1 - After watching all videos, answer the following questions on your                    worksheet:               1. Explain the easiest way to see if a relation represents a function. (as                    stated in one of the videos)               2. What is the definition of a relation?               3. Write 3 examples of a relation.               4. What is the domain of a set or ordered pair? What is the range?               5. What is the definition of a function?               6. Complete this statement: Whenever the ____ appears more than once,                     it is NOT a function.               7. Explain the vertical line rule.  [video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlhQqmLN51M][video:https://youtu.be/uWX…:http://www.phschool.com/atschool/academy123/english/academy123_content/…] Task 2 - Answer the following questions on the worksheet:               1. Create an example of a set of values that would be an example of a                    function. Do this in TABLE FORM.               2. Create an example of a set of values that would NOT be an example of a                    function. Do this by making a list of the ORDERED PAIRS. (Must have                     at least FOUR ordered pairs) Task 3 - Look at all the images of the graphs attached below. State whether or                    not each is a function by using the words "YES" or "NO".#1<a href=https://www.createwebquest.com/image/view/30903>Example 1</a>
#2 #3#4 #5 Task 4 - Partners will create a graphic organizer on "Functions" based on their                    understanding of the content using their understandings and the data                    collected from this webquest!                   The following grading rubric will be used for evaluation of the task!!
