Introduction
Transport or transportation is the movement of people, animals and goods from one location to another. Modes of transport include air, rail, road, water, cable, pipeline and space. Transport is important since it enables trade between people, which in turn establishes civilizations. Transport infrastructure consists of the fixed installations necessary for transport, including roads, railways, airways, waterways, canals and pipelines and terminals such as airports, railway stations, bus stations, warehouses, trucking terminals, refueling depots (including fueling docks and fuel stations) and seaports.
Task
The task of this webquest is to explore the different types of transportation and to find out the evalution of the vehicles then and now.
Amswer :
Transportation Then: Transportation back then was long and boring. You had to travel by ship, so that took a while. The ride was boring because they didn't have anything to do like they do today. They had the steerage which was for the middle class travelers. The steerage was filthy and disgusting. It was also very crowded and had little fresh air. At any point they could, the people who were riding in the steerage went onto the upper decks to get fresh air. The richer people had more room and since there was far less more people, there was more fresh air. There still wasn't much to do for them, but their ride was much more comfortable.
Transportation Now: Transportation today is much faster than back then. Today, we don't travel by boats, we travel by airplanes most of the time. Airplanes travel at very high velocities, so the voyage is much shorter. The airplanes are sanitary and comfortable for both the rich and average. Seats are cushioned, food is decontaminated, and there are things to do such as watching tv.
