Days of the Week!

Introduction

Hello students! My name is Dan the News Man. This morning I am going to teach you about the days of the week! We will sing songs and complete activities together!  I need your help to put the days of the week in the right order so I can report the news!

There are seven days in a week. What’s your favorite day of the week? 

Task

Today our class will work as a whole group. We will take turns answering the questions or completing a task.

1. Watch a Youtube video

3. Explore days of the week on Starfall

4. Record/complete days of the week worksheet on Smartboard 

Process

1. We will watch a Youtube video of The Adams Family  Days of the Week song; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIvQOab00OQ

2. Next, wait your turn to come up to the board to put the days of the week in order

3. The next activity will be done independently at your seat. Complete days of the week worksheet. When you are done, put your pencil down and wait.

4. Next, our class will explore Starfall.com on the Smartboard. Raise your hand to come up and take a turn on the Smartboard. http://www.starfall.com/n/holiday/calendar/play.htm?f

5. The last activity will be completed as a class on the Smartboard. We will fil in the ‘What do you like to do during the week?’ worksheet on the screen. Raise your hand to tell me what you like to do on each day

This webquest was designed to help teachers teach the days of the week in a fun and creative way. The lesson includes song, games, worksheets, and a lot of active learning. This lesson has the students using a lof of new technology like the SmartBoard. Each student will be able to engage with other students throughout this lesson as well. The students are then able to learn to work together better and also develop their social skills even more. The teacher's job throughout this whole lesson is to be there to guide and assist each student the whole time. By the end of the lesson the student should have no difficulty knowing their days of the week.
