Introduction
Task
There are some plain questions that will be answered.
- In what century was integers finally accepted?
- What culture was first to use negatives and what contributions did they make?
- When was the word integer introduced?
- What does the word integer mean in latin?
- What is the symbol for integer where does it come from and what does it mean?
- How do you add intgers with the same sign?
- How do you add integers with the different sign?
- How do you determine the difference between two integers?
- How do you multiply/divide integers?

Process
Answers:
Integers were finally accepted in the 19th century.
One of the first cultures who used negatives are the Chinese, it helped understand how someone owes you or the other way around.
The word integers was introduced in 1571 by Thomas Digges.
A whole number (opposed to a fraction).
The symbol is Z which means zahlen which is German for integers.
Keep the sign of the larger number and add.
Keep the sign of the larger number and subtract the smaller number from the larger one.
Keep the sign of the larger integer and subtract. However, if there is two negatives next to it, they will become positive.
Positive*Positive=Positive
Negative*Negative=Positive
Positive*Negative=Negative
Negative*Positive=Negative
Positive/Positive=Positive
Negative/Negative=Positive
Positive/Negative=Negative
Negative/Positive=Negative
Evaluation
Now that you know some more about integers, try solving these problems.
1.You are driving at 65mph with a cruise control set. You see a sign stating you are entering
a 55mph zone so you slow down 10mph. After a few miles a new sign informs you
that you are entering a 65mph zone again so you resume your original speed. In
a minute, you will be in a construction zone with the speed limit of 45mph.
Write the equation showing the positive and negative numbers to your speed.
2.Say I borrow $5 from you and buy lunch since I forgot my wallet. I owe
you $5 so my balance sheet would say -5. Later, I get my wallet and pay you the
$5 back so I can subtract my debt. Show what this would look like in an
equation if I then owed you $10.
Conclusion
All in all, integers are quite intresting in history. They have changed the lives now because of the effect. You are lucky to learn some intresting stuff.
