Introduction
Introduction
Thank you for your interest in the “Explorer Hall of Fame”! We are currently accepting submissions from historians all over the world. Please review the contest rules and guidelines to submit your application.
The“Explorer Hall of Fame”selection committee will review all applications and honor the winner at a special ceremony.
Applications have two parts. The first part is a detailed summary of your explorers accomplishments and travels. The second part will be a video of your explorer and their crew convincing the committee why your group should be selected as the winner.
Task

Attention historians!
In order to participate in the “Explorer Hall of Fame” contest, you must demonstrate your knowledge of the successful explorations your explorer has completed. To be accepted as a competitor in the contest, you will print out the Explorer of the Year Application and complete it with your group. It will require you to demonstrate knowledge of the life and explorations of your explorer to prove they are a successful explorer and that they deserves to be in the contest. Your group will use the websites provided in order to complete the application. Once your application is approved, you will be ready to begin your autobiographical video to submit to the committee.
The purpose of the video is to get the committee to select you to win a spot in the “Explorer Hall of Fame”. You must persuade the committee to choose your explorer by presenting who he/she was and the exploration successes in a creative manner. Using the Autobiographical Video Organizer, you and your group will write interesting facts and details in a well organized format for your presentation. Once your presentation is written, you will create a plan for the design of your video such as costumes, props, and backdrops. Then, you and your group will record your presentation and present it to the committee. The committee looks forward to reading your application and viewing the video submission.
Process

Process
Step 1: We will discuss the idea of a web quest in class and how to complete it. We will also talk about this specific assignment and the various parts.
Step 2: You will be assigned into a group of 4 and will use the "European Explorer List" to select an explorer to research.
Step 3: You will work with your group to collect information about your chosen explorer. You will use the websites on Google Classroom ONLY to find information to complete the "Explorer Hall of Fame Application".
Step 4: When the contest application is complete, your group will turn it in for review. Once it has been approved your group will move on to the next step, the video submission.
Step 5: Using the information you've already found you will complete the "Autobiographical Video Organizer". This will be part of your script and plan for the video submission. You should incorporate information about your explorer in a persuasive presentation that says why your explorer is the most successful. Your video should be about 3 minutes in length.
Step 6: You will perform and record your video. The application and video will be submitted to the Explorer Hall of Fame contest for review. Contest winners will be announced once all entries are submitted.
Step 7: As a class, we will watch all of the videos and decide which explorer deserves to be Explorer of the Year!
