Introduction
"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."

Quite often, Harriet Tubman is referred to as The Conductor of the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad was not a real railroad. It was a network of people working secretly to help slaves escape to freedom.

Teacher Page
This WebQuest is focused on the life of the African-American abolitionist and humanitarian Harriet Tubman.
My plan for this lesson is for the students to acquire knowledge in the area of stewardship and the impact it can have within society. I hope that you find this WebQuest helpful. Although this WebQuest was designed for 2nd grade I believe that this assignment could be adjusted to meet the needs of all grade levels. All of the clips are appropriate for grade levels 2-8. I would plan this for a 1-2 week unit. I would advise teachers to take 45-50 minutes each day to allow students plenty of time to gain access to the computers and spend time researching. The students should be given 2-3 days to complete their research, and another 2-3 days to complete their PowerPoint. This assignment could also be adapted to have students present their research in the form of posters.
Standards
