Introduction
The word "Renaissance" is a French word that means "rebirth". From the early 14th to the late 16th century, a revival of interest in the values and arts of Greece and Rome led to a golden age of cultural blending and innovation. This Renaissance transformed Western European life.
During the Renaissance, The Western European world image shifted from a religious view to a worldly outlook. Renaissance intellectuals had a growing confidence in individual human spirit and abilities. This new focus on personal worth of the individual is called "humanism."
Task
Your assignment will be to research one of the famous Renaissance intellectuals assigned to you, and to portray the individual at the Renaissance Meal.
Process
A. Gathering Information
1. Take notes on the person's accomplishments and impact. Be sure to get copies of art, diagrams, books, summaries of ideas, etc. that reflect this person's contributions.
Explain the accomplishments of this person (In a Google Doc)
Describes the impact of the individual (In a Google Doc)
Answers the focus questions posed for your topic. (In a Google Doc)
Create something that portrays something your Renaissance intellectual would have created and bring it to the Renaissance meal (Explain the item you created in your Google Doc)
Use at least 3 sources.
Create a bibliography of your sources. (At least 3 sources. Include bibliography in the Google Doc).
B. Role Playing
2. You will participate in a panel presentation as the person you have researched. For example, all Renaissance artists will be interviewed together. Speaking, dressing and acting like your chosen individual is not required, but suggested.
