The next three lessons you will constantly be surrounded by fairy tales. You will read them, you will see them, listen to them and eventually write about them. 

Prepare yourself for a magical ride through imaginary worlds.

Lesson 1

- What is a fairytale?  The history and the different versions in different countries

- Thinking about the fairy tales you already know

- Watching a sample of a fairy tale 

- Reading some vocabulary and doing a quick test. 

Lesson 2

- Continue with extra vocabulary and repeating the vocabulary of the previous lesson

- Reading/listening to two fairy tales of your choice.

- Adding words to your vocabulary by looking up words (words of the previous exercise)

Lesson 3

- Again reading the given vocabulary and your own vocabulary.

Process

Lesson 1

  • Let's start with an introduction movie explaining what a fairy tale is (history and different versions of different countries).

  • Now that you have watched this video, write down all the fairytales you know (3 minutes). After this compare your answers with your neighbour and add the fairy tales you miss. 
  • It's time for your first real fairy tale! Watch the video below. Have fun!!!

Now it is your turn to create something magic! Using all the information you have learnt these last lessons. Follow these steps carefully!

  1. Choose one of the two fairy tales you have read or listened to!
  2. Then choose one of the following writing exercises. 
  • Write a page of the main character's diary. Write the feelings and thoughts of this person in a minimum of 300 words. 
  • Write your own fairy tale. Make it as magical as possible in a minimum of 300 words. 
  • Write a letter to a character out of your fairy tale. Tell him/her/it what you thought of the fairy tale. What was realistic what wasn't, what would you do different etc. Do this in a minimum of 300 words.

After you have chosen your assignment open a word document and start typing! 

  • After 20 minutes swap you story with your neighbour's story
  • Read and correct his/her story in 10 minutes.
  • After this swap again and then correct the mistakes your neighbour pointed out.

  • When you are finished send the me the word document by email.
