Introduction
There are many Science Fiction movies and stories about traveling through time from the past and into the future. Is it possible to travel through time, or is this just a fantasy? Could time travel ever occur? Where would you go if you had the opportunity to travel through time? Many scientists and philosophers in the past have tried to create time machines and practice traveling through time. In this webquest you will go on a journey through time. Through out this expedition you and your team of scientists will conduct research to decide whether time travel is possible? You will learn the mechanics of how a time machine must work and then create your own time machine to travel back through the past to collect artifacts that you feel will teach the future generation about how humans valued society, and travel into the future to bring back artifacts that will teach our current generation about what is valued in our future society here on Earth. Task
You and your team of scientists will conduct research on time travel and if it is possible. As a team, you will create and design a time machine that will take your team 100 years into the past, (known as the turn of the century)and at least 50 years into the future. While traveling, the team will decide what artifacts should be brought back into the present that will teach us the values of human society at the time. In other words, what was most important to people at that time and why? Each team participant will have a role in the time travel process. Each team of scientists will consist of a historian, engineer, theorist, futurologist.
Process
Task 1: Each participant will use the given websites to conduct research and come up with facts to support their findings. Each scientist will fill in the report sheet. websites are in the evaluation tab. ( report sheet found on google classroom)
Historian: Research lifestyles, family values, and societal values in the early 1900s.
Theorist: Research articles on time travel and its possiblities.
Engineer: Research articles on time machines and designs
Futurologist: Research possible family values and societal values in the future.
Task 2:
Historian: Select 4 to 5 artifacts that symbolize family and societal values in the early 1900s. These are the artifacts that you will bring back to modern day with you in the time machine. Describe each artifact and its importance, and create a symbol for each. Do this in a google slide show.
Theorist: Decide whether time travel is possible or not. What do other scientists say about time travel ? create a list of the pros and cons of time travel. Use this list to help create a short informational/ persuasive written piece on time travel, and its possibilities or effects. Create a google document or add to the google slide show.
Engineer: Collect different designs of past time machines. Combine them together to create your own unique time machine using google draw or google docs or any other designing program. Explain in a paragraph or two exactly how the time machine works? why you chose the design that you did? and How it allows your team to travel through time.
Futurologist: After you have found what possible life could be like in the future, come up with 4 to 5 artifacts that you believe will show family values and societal values in the future. What will be most important to us? Describe each artifact, why it was chosen, and its importance. Create a symbol for each. Add this to the google slide show.
Task3: Each scientist will share their findings ( data) with each other and will decide the best way to present their findings to the class.

Conclusion
Science fiction is a part of fiction, in which an author uses scientific ideas and imagination to explore unexpected possibilities of the past or the future. Human value is what makes up our morals, and beliefs about family culture, ethics, and society. Time travel has always been a topic of scientific discussion. Many believe it could happen, others believe it couldn't. Is it possible? only time will tell...
