Introduction

Do the United State's symbols represent the county's values and people?  The symbols of the United states were created long ago.  Do we need to modify or create a new symbol for the United States?

Task

You will create a power point of 5-7 symbols that represent the values of the United States and its people.

Steps to complete your task:

1. Visit links and watch videos to research United Sates symbols.

2. Keep notes and inages of your research.

3. Choose 5-7 important United States symbols to create your power point.

4. Modify or create a new symbol for the United States. 

5. Prepare note cards to present your power point.

6. Present your to your class.

2. Keep notes and images of your research in step 1.

3. Choose 5-7 important United States symbols to create your power point. The power point will include: a title slide, 5-7 slides for United States symbols, a person symbol slide, and an author slide.

     Symbol slides must include:   

  • a pictue of the symbol
  • the name of the symbol
  • date the symbol was created
  • meaning beind the symbol   

4. Modify or create a new symbol for the United States. This will be your personal symbol slide. This slide has the same requirement of the other symbol slides.

5. Prepare note cards to present your power point. Use your notes from step 2 to help you create note cards for you power point presentation.  These notes should include all the things on the slide and why you choose it.  Feel free to add interesting facts about the symbol at this time.  

6. Present your to your class.

This quest was written for 4th graders.  This will help students understand that symbols for the United States have a meaning and are connected to the country's values.  When the students are makeing their own symbol they will connect themself to their country and their values.
