Geography WebQuest

Introduction

Using this WebQuest, you will go on an adventure around the world to learn about the continents! 

Why are maps important?

How might different geographic features present challenges or benefits?

Why are we where we are?

Task

You will work in teams of 3 to complete this WebQuest.

Using the websites provided, you will create a map of the world.

You will label all 7 continents and 5 oceans.

You will locate and label at least 2 landmarks and at least 2 landforms on your map. Make sure to use a different symbol and color to identify "landmark" or "landform". 

Create a map legend and a compass rose.

On your worksheet, include 1 interesting fact your learned about each continent and the landmark and landforms you included.

You will be given time after you complete your WebQuest and find your information to color in your map.

Each team will present to the class!

Click on a continent or ocean to learn its name! Be sure to label your map correctly!

Look in the box on the left to read about each continent and ocean. The recorder should write down one fact about each continent on your worksheet. What do you think is interesting?

Step Two

Choose 2 landforms to label on your map. Decide on a color and symbol for your map legend as a group. Be sure to read carefully to give your landform its proper name!

Write one interesting fact about each landform you chose on your worksheet.

Step Three

Choose 2 landmarks to label on your map. Decide on a color and symbol for your map legend as a group. Make sure it is different from the one you used for landforms!

Write one interesting fact about each landmark on your worksheet.

All Finished? Move on to the evaluation section to make sure you have completed everything correctly!

Then visit the conclusion section to discuss some questions with your group.
