Influenza, Chicken Pox (varicella) and Head Lice (Pediculosis)

Introduction

Influenza, Chicken Pox (varicella) and Head Lice (Pediculosis) are some of the most common conmmunicable diseases that are found within the Primary classroom. Each of these are easily contagious and can quickly spead throughout your classroom. Through this web quest you will gain a comprehensive understanding of these diseases as well as methods to reduce the liklihood of them occuring in your classroom. 

Task

You are to research these diseases to build your understanding of each of these diseases and the role they can play in the school setting. You will be required present the information that you gather to your peers at the conclusion of this PD session. You may wish to present this information in a PowerPoint or orally. 

Key questions:

1) Define Influenza, Chicken Pox and Head lice.

2.) How can you identify if a student has one of these diseases?

3.) What are the best methods for them to be treated? How can you inform parents?

4.) Are there preventive strategies that you can put in place to prevent the spread of this disease?
