Introduction

Have you wondered how the President got his job?
Or who makes the laws that we must follow?
We are going to learn about the 3 Branches of Government. We will learn what each branch is called, what each branch is responsible for, and who is in each branch.
Task
While performing this task we will become government officials. We will take a walk through the 3 branches of government to learn about what each branch does and why it is important. You will work with a partner to complete the following tasks.
- Learn the names and important parts of the 3 branches of government.
- Visit web sites to gain knowledge about the 3 branches of government.
- Complete data sheets while collecting government knowledge.
- Use learned government knowledge to design and create an informational pamphlet.
Process
You will be performing a task by following the directions below.
You are now an official government member ready to begin a study about the 3 branches of government.

Can you:
Identify the 3 branches of government.
Identify the significant task of each branch.
Identify who is in each branch of government.

Now it is time to start exploring and writing down some information about EACH branch of government on your worksheet. Each of you should write on your own worksheet. You should include:
- The name of the branch.
- The head of the branch.
- The members of the branch.
- The main responsibility of the branch.
After gathering all of your information you need to make a pamphlet with the information you gathered about each branch. You can click on the website links below to show you an example. Yours does not have to look like this example but it needs to include the information you were asked to find about each branch.
You can make the pamphlet with your partner but both names need to be included on the pamphlet and both of you need to do your fair share!
