Introduction
Hello Everyone!
I hope you guys are excited about your upcoming assignment! Composing music is a both a skill that can be learned and a talent that can be cultivated. So, I want you guys to start thinking and imagining ideas you want your composition to look and sound like.

Task
Based on previous composing techniques we've already learned, you guys will have the exciting task of creating your own personal piece! You will be given the choice of composing a musical piece for voice or instrument. This is your composition.
so make sure you complete the task well!
Process
You wouldn’t try to build a house from scratch without first looking at a lot of different types of building, and without reading up on the techniques of house construction. Similarly, it’s a good idea to take into consideration all that we have learnt about composition in class. You can do this by examining other famous or well known indivual's work and/or studying the techniques they used. If you compose without thinking about technique, you’re unlikely to score a high mark on this assignment so below is a link that will be of help to all of you! Evaluation
In grading your assignment I will be looking for:
- Naming of composition - 5%
- Form (good organisation) - 30%
- Appropriate Rythms - 20%
- Melodic structure (showing continuity but with variety)- 35%
- Performance directions (relevant and appropriate) - 10%

Conclusion
Composing music is a both a skill that can be learned and a talent that can be cultivated. To improve, you have to focus on improving. The process of improving happens through specific directed exercises that incrementally advance your understanding of all aspects of the technical side of music.
