Rainforests

Introduction

Can you imagine a world without chocolate? It would be pretty sad, wouldn't it? No more chocolate bars, chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake, brownies, or chocolate fudge!

You may think, "Sure, its sad to think about, but chocolate will always exist!" But sadly, that may not be true.

Why, you ask? Because the rainforests are being destroyed every day, and thats where chocolate comes from.  Today, we are going to learn how and why the rainforests are being destroyed, and what we can do to save them.

Task

We are going to spend some time researching independently about the rainforests and how they are important, and then get together in groups of two and create posters about saving the rainforests.

Process

1. Spend some time searching on these websites about rainforests. Pay special attention to the parts that talk about how rainforests are important, why they are being destroyed, the people and animals that live in them, and how we can help to save them.

3. Now, in groups of two, use a large piece of paper to create a "save the rainforests" poster. It must contain a title, 4 facts about rainforests, pictures of 4 different jungle animals, 4 reasons why rainforests are important, and 3 ways we can help to save them.
