Tie Dye Apparel 101

Introduction

Welcome to Tie Dye Apparel 101, where all your Tie Dye dreams can become reality right before you eyes!

Task

          Learning how to create Tie Dye clothing of any type can be difficult. This web quest will provide you with step by step instruction on how to Tie dye anything, beinging with t-shirts. After going throught this webquest I am confident you have no problem making your own tie dye t-shirts, t-shirts that after being handed in will be your to keep and to use as an example for other cool designs.

Process

You will need(provide by teacher): 

  • Fabric dye 
  • a plain white T-shirt 
  • squeeze bottle
  • elastic bands
  • newspaper 

Steps

*be sure to have every step checked by the teacher before continuing to the next* 

Step 1: Prep.

Begin by preparing you station by laying down lots of newspaper, Then deicde which colours you would like to have on you shirt. 

Step 2: Folding for design. 

a) lay your t-shirst table flat on the

b)Then pinch the center of the shirt and 

begin twisting till the whole shirt is in a spiral flat on the table. 

Step 3: Once your done use elastic bandes to keep to your spiral from unraveling.

Step 4: Apply a differnet colour of your choice to each section. 

Step 5: Place the t-shirst in a bag and let sit for 5-6 minutes. 

Step 6: Take the t-shirst out of the bag and place in the sink to be rinsed.

Step 7:Unraval the elastics and hang T-shirt in the sun to dry for 4-6 hours.

Conclusion

Tie Dye is a fun way to spiece up your wordobe or to revape old clothing making them new again. Now that you have learned how to Tie Dye a T-shirt there are no limits to the things you can tie Dye. Lets see if you can make a tie dye outfit.
