Introduction
The whole of year 8 of the Gymnasium Philippinum is going to California for 2 weeks just before the summer holidays!
- Imagine you were a member of the committee that organises the trip. You and the other members have to take care of the whole organisation, meaning picking out places to go to, activities to do and joining them to a nice round trip through the State of California.

Task
Your task is to organize a trip around California for your fellow 8th graders.
Task 1):
Think about a starting point for the trip. (Where does your trip start? Where does the plane land?) Plan the trip from "start to finish".
Task 2):
Pick out things for you and the rest of year 8 to do (activities). This can be daytrips, fun activities or sights that seem interesting to you (Do not forget California's countless nature reserves ;-) !!!
Task 3)
Create a leaflet about your trip to California, which gives the reader a good overview over the tour.
Process
You can organize your work according to the follwing steps:
- create a mindmap of your knowledge about the topic
- Do some broad research on California - gather ideas [wiki: California / facts / tourist info / pictures / traveler's diary]
- Compare your results with your group members
- select useful information from the sources (websites) you found
- compose a leaflet [tips for leaflets] (can be word or PowerPoint, publisher, etc.) for the participants of the trip to California- The leaflet should consist of:
- a gerneral overview over the trip
- general background information* about the state
- descriptions including pictures of the highlights (most important places or activities)
*please make sure to always state where the information is taken from (working with sources)
One last tip: Create a word document while you plan the trip in order to note down ideas or write down your progress.

- the quality of your leaflet
