Parallel lines web quest

Introduction

Today you will be building new roads because you just got hired as a transportation engineer. The roads have to be very precise and they have to be parallel otherwise the roads won't be safe.In order to make the roads parallel you have to be able to prove the lines parallel.

Task

You will complete some of the following tasks to be able to prove the lines parallel and become an expert at it. You will need this knowledge to keep people safe and to be able to make a design of the roads before they are built to map it out.

1.)Two parallel roads, Pencil Street and Pen Street, are cut by a transversal, Eraser Street. Find the number of degrees in the acute angle formed by the intersection of Pen Street and Pencil Street. What kind of angles are 4x-2 and 2x-1?

2.)Solve for variable x to prove that Peach Road is parallel to Pear Road.

3.)Bay St. and Bell St. are cut by a transvesal Orange Park. The angle that Orange park forms with Bay St. is 6 times the size of the acute angle that Orange Park forms with Bell Street. What is the measure of the angle that Orange park and Bay St. forms? What kind of angles are x and 6x?
