Volume WebQuest - Zach Fisher

Introduction

In this webuest you'll need to find the volume of certain shapes, but not just any shapes. They have to be actual buldings, or ancient artifacts. This teaches how to find volume and helps you learn about the architecture of some buildings around the world.

Task

You will have to find the volume of at least two buldings or ancient artifacts. Only one can be a rectangular prism, the other must be a different shape like a cylinder, pyramid, or anything else you can find.

Process

First you will need to research two buildings that you like. (remember only one can be a rectangular prism) Then find the information you need to find the volume of those buildings, such as height and area of the building. Then calculate the volume of the building. Work  must shown and presented on a piece of paper.

Focus on the task Consistently stays focused on the task and what needs to be done. Very self-directed. Focuses on the task and what needs to be done most of the time. Other group members can count on this person. Focuses on the task and what needs to be done some of the time. Other group members must sometimes nag, prod, and remind to keep this person on-task. Rarely focuses on the task and what needs to be done. Lets others do the work.
Quality of Work Provides work of the highest quality. Provides high quality work. Provides work that occasionally needs to be checked/redone by other group members to ensure quality. Provides work that usually needs to be checked/redone by others to ensure quality.
Time-management Routinely uses time well throughout the project to ensure things get done on time. Group does not have to adjust deadlines or work responsibilities because of this person's procrastination. Usually uses time well throughout the project, but may have procrastinated on one thing. Group does not have to adjust deadlines or work responsibilities because of this person's procrastination. Conclusion

This lesson is made to help find the volume of shapes without having the information already given to you. This also lets you look at architecture around the world.

I chose this specific topic because architecture is interesting in my opinion. I thought the best way to incorporate architecture is through volume. It is also a great way to put math to real world because people actually do this everyday.
