Introduction
The year is 2019. You’ve just graduated from high school and you have been assigned along with the members of your class to be a part of a special task force created by World Leaders. Between the years 2014 and 2019, the world has seen so much poverty, hunger, racism, diseases and wars and as a result, people have started falling victim to these plagues. Reflect on the year 2014, what do you know about hunger, racism and diseases in this year? What could have been done to prevent or even erase some of these things? People are supposed to learn from their mistakes, and not repeat what has happened in parts of our darker history. Racism, hunger and poverty still exists, is it because of greed and ignorance?
Your task as assigned by the World Leaders is to create a community separate from the influences of the outside world. You will build, govern, feed, educate, and establish the habits, practices, and organizing social structures that citizens will follow in your utopian society – in your perfect world. You must address key elements such as racism, poverty, diseases, and hunger and how you will make sure your society doesn’t succumb to these negative things that plague the world. This will be your perfect world, your Utopia!
You will be broken up into districts and each district will address issues that plague our current world. In the end, all the districts will come together to create one UNIFIED community.

Process
Begin with the research.
- Find research to help support your three reasons from your thesis statement.
- Organize your research in a word document
- Make sure you put the website at the end of the research.
Begin writing your report.
- Start with the introduction.
- What district is being represented?
- Give a description of the district.
- End the introduction with your thesis statement
- Begin working on the body paragraphs (use some of your research to support your opinions) STAY ON TOPIC
Peer Review
- On Thursday, we will be reviewing each others work
Presentation
- Create your presentation using the checklist and rubric provided for you.
Art Drawing
- Using the projector or free hand drawing create your district. You may construct any type of building you wish. It must be in color and large enough so that it can be seen from Ms. Davidson's office.
Conclusion
Districts will be judged based on their reports, presentation and their art drawing. Just like in Divergent, districts always compete against each other although they are working for the common good. Please be sure to give this assignment 100% of your attention. Remember, that you are ultimately responsible for the future of this world. This assignment impacts you in more than one way. I hope you begin to think about the positive change that you could produce in the world.
