Lewis and Clark Journey

Introduction

Hello explorers! Today we are going to begin our journey out to the Pacific Ocean! Before we begin we will have to make sure we have enough supplies ready for our long trip out West.We have our trusted leaders Lewis and Clark that will guide us on our journey. WE will also review journals and videos to help us understand what it will be like on our journey! Good luck with your adventure!

Process

While we are on our journey, we are going to keep a journal about our experiences. We will write a journal at the beginning of the journey, in the middle of the journey and at the end of the journey. The journals will be turned in at the end of our journey.

Explorers here is what you need to do while we are on this journey.

1. Go to the following website and look at the list of supplies that Lewis and Clark brought with them. What would you have brought with you? http://www.pbs.org/lewisandclark/inside/idx_equ.html

Now write a journal entry as if you were apart of the group going with Lewis and Clark. Desrcibe how you are feeling and what you would take with you. This entry should be at least 5 complete senteces long.

2. Next go to the following website. Watch part of the video about Lewis and Clark journey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGVOYINLQj0 After the video go to the next site and look at numbers 1-14 on the top of the website. Read about what Lewis and Clark and the Corps did and saw while on their way to the Pacific Ocean. http://www.nationalgeographic.com/lewisandclark/journey_leg_14.html Next, write your second entry. Describe what it was like once you started the journey. What did you see, hear, and what was it like traveling? Be very descriptive. This entry should at least be 5 complete sentences.

3. Then go back to the National Geographic website and look at the rest of the numbers. Then finish your last journal entry. This would should be written as if you just came back from your journey and are back in Missuori. What was it like coming back to an actual city? What will you tell the others that you saw? This journal entry should also be at least 5 sentences long.

Evaluation

The journals will be collected and graded based off of the your ability to allow yourself to be able to understand how the people felt while on the journey and how if would be feel if you were going to be on the journey. I will put your journal in a category depending on your ability to put yourself in the situation of someone in Lewis and Clark's corps. The category you end up in will depend on how many points you get for your final score.
