Introduction
Caesar Augustus also known as Octavian became dictator over the Roman Republic after defeating Anton and Cleopatra at the Battle of Aticum. Octavian decieded to share the power with the Senate and took the title " first citizen" to make it seem like he was one of the common people. He lead the Roman Republic through a time of peace, unity, and prosperity which was called Pax Romana. During this time the Mediterranean Sea area was freed of pirates and attacks which resulted in the growth of trade.
Also during Pax Romana, Caesar Augustus stabled the Roman government by removing unhonest and corrupt officials out of the Roman government. He started a census every fourteen years to remove unfair taxing of the different regions. Caesar Augustus tried to build his republic based on honesty and morals.
Task
After examining Caesar Augustus's reign you will find a president other than Abraham Lincoln and George Washington who was like Caesar Augustus.You will make a chart on the similiarities and differences between your president and Caesar Augustus. Then at the bottom of your chart, you will write two paragraphs, in your opinion, on who did a better job and what you would've done differently.
