Shackleton's Stowaway Webquest

Introduction

Welcome to your Shackleton's Stowaway Webquest!

Today you will research history and geography in your quest to learn more about the famed polar explorer, Ernest Shackleton.  You will create a map, research world events, learn about other Antarctic expeditions, and examine resources to build background on Shackleton and the expedition depicted in our novel, Shackleton's Stowaway.

Now, move to the Task section.

Task

Follow the prompts and links in the Process section; there is a rubric located in the Evaluation section.  Follow all instructions exactly, so you earn the full allotment of points.

Your webquest consists of the following tasks:

1) Trace Shackleton's route on map

2) Find facts about world events during the time period

3)  Find facts about Ernest Shackleton

4) Find facts about Perce Blackborow

5)  Watch an interactive video about Shackleton's expedition

6) Find photos or illustrations that represent what you read and saw in this webquest.

All sections of the project, with the exception of the map, must be turned in through Google Classroom, with your name(s) clearly marked.  You need to create a Google doc or presentation to turn in through Google Classroom, but you may create a PowerPoint or a Word document initially, and then copy it into a Google doc to turn in.

This project is due Thursday, September 3!

You may work with 1 partner of your choice, but each of you must contribute to the webquest.  You will turn in 1 webquest with 2 names.
