Arthurian Legend WebQuest-English 10 (Period 2)

Introduction

By completing this WebQuest, you will be able to explore and learn more about the Arthurian Legend. In doing this, you will be provided with a starting point and will be able to guide your own learning about various important people, places, and objects that relate to the Arthurian Legend. You will be given several nights to complete this task, as well as one class period with the mobile lab, but the work will be self-paced. This means that you will learn at your own pace, and that what you turn in needs to demonstrate that you have learned the required information. Overall, this learning experience should mime what basic research looks like, and will help to review the skills that will be necessary for later assignments. This WebQuest should be completed to the best of your ability. Since this may take several days to grade, please make sure that you create two copies of your work: one to submit for a grade in class and one to use to review for next week's test. Finally, this is an individual assignment and you shouldnot be working with your peers on it.

Task

Below you will find a list of various people, places, and objects that are significant to the Arthurian Legend, and your task is to research information about each one. In doing this, you should read at least 1 source of information about each item and then take several notes about it (between 2-3 bullet points). To assist you in this process, you will be provided with a list of helpful websites to get you started, yet this list is not exhaustive. You are more than welcome to find other sources of information, but keep in mind that you will have to list your sources and be able to prove that they are credible. (Please note: should you choose to use Wikipedia, you will need to make sure that you prove that it provided you with factual information.) Your information should be placed in a chart of some sort, and an example is provided below. The exact chart you choose to create is up to you, yet it must include: the list of items, information found out about each item, and the sources that you used to find that information. At the end of this process, you will need to provide a short (2-3 sentences) description as to why each source that you used was useful. For this assignment, your sources do not need to be listed in MLA format, and can simply be listed by their full URL address. In total, this assignment should not take you more than 2 hours to complete, but does require that you have access to the Internet. If this is a problem, please see me individually for a controlled source packet.

1: Once and Future King by T.H. White

1: This text is one of the most well-known and respected novels about Arthur and his magical kingdom. Throughout the various parts of this text, the Knights of the Round Table are introduced and go on individual adventures in honor of him and his wife (Queen Gwynevere). Even though it was loosely based on the tales told and written by others, White truly combines the stories into a unique and well-written text.
