Introduction
This WebQuest was designed to help further understand what life was like for those living in tenement housing during the late 19th century and early 20th century. During this webquest scholars will work both with partners and individually.
Welcome class!
You have recently read and learned about what life was like in the cities for immigrants who came to this country. Many of these immigrants came here for a better life, but upon arrival found out that the life they were living wasn't exactly what they head planned for. In this webquest you will be doing research to find more details about what life was like for immigrants living in the cities and more specifically temements.
Task
Your task for this webquest will be to visit ALL the links provided for you and take notes on what life was like in the cities for immigrants with the focus on tenements. After you have conducted research you will assume the role of a new immigrant (child, mother, father, etc) to New York City. You will write a letter home to your family explaining what life is like in this new country. Is it everything you hoped it would be, or would you rather be back home? In your letter home be sure to include detailed information outlining...
1. The reason you left your country and came to America
2. What does your city look like?
3. Describe what your tenement looks like (the size, the bedroom, kitchen, etc)
4. Conditions in your city
5. Your job - the hours you work, what you do, your pay,
6. What does a typical day look like for you?
7. Other information you find useful or interesting
Process
Step #1:
Divide your notebook into the 6 sections outlined in the task
Step #2:

Step #3:
