Life of the Northwest Coast Indians

Introduction

    In this webquest you will be exploring Northwest Coast indians.  You will be seeing how this group of indians lived and what life was like. You will find that they were very smart people. They had to teach themselves how to adapt to the land they were living in.  I hope will have fun exploring and figuring out the many ways Northwest Coast indians lived.

Task


TASK

    Create a small model of whatever one of these tribes lived in. You have 3 tribes to choose from: Chinook, Comox, and Haida.  Make sure to include color and make sure it is pretty realistic.  You need to also include a totem pole as the Northwest Coast indians are the only indians to actually have totem poles. Try to make the totem pole look pretty realistic but if you cant I understand it may not be that easy. You NEED to make an explanation of whats going on in your model and what your model is.

Process

To complete the task you will need some supplies:

  1. First you will need popcicle sticks
  2. You will also need glue or tape your choice
  3. Then to make the dwelling or house tape/glue the popcicle sticks together in the desired shape
  4. Make sure there is an opening to look inside the house
  5. To make the totem pole put the popcicle sticks right side up, and then glue/tape them together into the desired shape
  6. Put some color and shapes to make it look pretty realistic
  7. Finally, Make sure to include a label that explains your model, you need to make sure you include
