A WebQuest for Gifted Learners in World History by Mr. Herring

Introduction

This WebQuest was created as a way to challenge the gifted learners in our 10th grade World History class.  The activities allow the gifted learner to go above and beyond what is expected, while investigating Greek mythology.  Please use the toolbar links above to navigate through the Gifted Learners WebQuest.

Task

As part of our Greek mythology unit, you are going to have a chance to further investigate the role of Greek mythology in their society.  Your end result is to choose at least two of the four options listed below and complete the listed requirements.  If there is another option that is not listed that you're passionate about doing, feel free to discuss it with me and we can possibly add it!  Once you've reviewed the options, navigate the process tab for more instructions.

Options

1.  Become a Greek God or Goddess

2.  Create a Board Game

3.  Create a Newspaper

4.  Create your Own Greek God or Goddess and Myth

Process

Follow the steps below for the activities that you chose!

1.  Become a Greek God or Goddess:  Research a god or goddess and become that god or goddess by acting like him or her.  Develop an oral presentation telling facts about your Greek god or goddess.  The other students will try to guess who you are, so remember not to tell anyone!  Include another interesting piece to this project, such as designing Poseidon's trident or Pandora's box.

2.  Create a Board Game:  Reearch and come up with a board game all about Greek mythology.  Be sure to create questions, a game board, directions on how to play the game, and pieces.  This game will be played and shared with the whole class.

3.  Create a Newspaper:  Create a newspaper about the everyday happenings of the Greek gods and goddesses.  It should include various articles, advertisements, and even comics.  The use of creative ideas is very important.

4.  Cerate Your Own Greek God or Goddess and Myth:  Create your own god or goodess and create a myth around him or her.  Remember to include detailed descriptions and personal characteristics of your god or goddess.
