Introduction
This WebQuest will assist you to find what direction to take after high-school. As you continue through your four year journey through High School it is important to keep your mind open, your goals feasible, and strive to move past your comfort zone. Ask yourself- What do you want to do after high school? Where do you want to go to college?
The first step to not knowing is by doing some research and compare colleges according to costs, majors, admissions requirements, locations, programs, etc.
Task
You will need to complete each task by visiting the linked resources and filling in the information on the attached worksheet. You will be provided an evaluation rubric to help you get the most out of this assignment.

Category: Explore
1. You will need to go to www.mymajors.com and click on I'm New button to fill out the registration to have access to the survey. Please remember to save your username and password for future references. After you take the quiz fill in your attached worksheet Five suggested majors based on the answers in their quizz. if you have access print out the suggested majors and put them in order of which you like least to which you like most.
2. Next go to www.collegeboard.org, do the 4 minute survey on what you would want to look for at a University. After you complete this survey write down Five Universities that interest you and what made you choose them from the other options. Once you select your top five Schools, go to their webpage and click on the Admissions Tab. Look up tuition and costs and other questions from your worksheet. *(If you are a Senior, remember you get 4 Application Fee Waivers, for the extra application you may ask your guidance counselor for a seperate waiver fee form, or contact the desired University and ask if they can Waive the application)*
3. Use www.mapquest.com to find the distance of the schools you have choosen from your home. Print a map showing how to get to from your house to each college you researched. Add these maps to your portfolio.
4. Go to the following link www.collegeboard.org and read Sample Application Essay 1. After you read this sample look for the essay's strengths and weaknesses and compare to the Authors critique.

5. Once you have completed reading the article, write a 200-400 word essay on one of the following subjects:
#1 Talk about a time where you had to solve a problem. How did you go about doing that and what skills did you use? How has Upward Bound helped you develop problem solving (also called critical thinking) skills?
#2 What are some learning skills you have gained from Upward Bound? How have you become more independent in school and/ or your life because of these skills?
#3 How has Upward Bound helped you to better speak for yourself? Talk about a time when you used your skills to advocate for yourself/ stand up for yourself, and what were the results?
You will need to save all your progress and worksheets in your portfolio once these objectives have been submitted.
